i went to ikea today and while asking for a product i found myself tripping on this tongue twister:

"do you still sell swedish fish?"

richness comes in different colors

what makes life rich? i have a feeling it is the good along with the bad, or difficult. my life is rich. i say this with recent experiences in mind. my thanksgiving was enjoyable. the three days following were enjoyable as well. i spent quality time with some friends very dear to me. picking one up from the airport, meeting another for dinner, all of us 'shopping' together, spending the night, waking up, enjoying the morning with the innocence mission and sunlight filling the little l.a. apartment. lunch and amoeba. dinner was at my grandpa's and minutes spilled into hours of rummikub.

i spent monday afternoon with a distant friend running errands and eating dinner. i enjoy those things, because they are things you do with long time friends.

tuesday afternoon was great. what better way to spend the afternoon than with a faraway friend in an hour walk around a large park?

wednesday afternoon lent itself to a catch-up phone call to new york, a nap, hot chocolate and chasing a toy train over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over with a 3 year old, then standing for 10 minutes waiting for the cuckoo bird to come out of the clock.

yet last night my head lay down with prayers on my lips and tears in my eyes; work was met with stress as we have a difficult decision to come to, which we only want the Lord's direction on, and in every way need His strength.

inspired by martha stewart, i took the idea and ran with it. though i like my alterations much better. the owl one i lined with a very light pink flannel, and where her directions said to glue, i sewed; it's much more legitimate to sew.

saturday

what a lovely day. spent with and friend who can be called one more so after a day of coffee shops, reading, eating, conversing, enjoying each other's company. children of God.

this afternoon i went to the beach for a jog. the sun had begun to set changing the lighting and making the world soft and warm. the tide was so low, the lowest i have ever seen it there. i felt i could walk out to the middle of the ocean...

my project is complete! though i have ideas for window coverings to yet execute from some of the same material, what was featured in my last post has been put to use. i was given curtains already set with loops for a rod to go through, but in place of a rod above my closet there is a cable that cannot be removed. so i looped the loops over and fastened them with buttons.
