my project is complete! though i have ideas for window coverings to yet execute from some of the same material, what was featured in my last post has been put to use. i was given curtains already set with loops for a rod to go through, but in place of a rod above my closet there is a cable that cannot be removed. so i looped the loops over and fastened them with buttons.

fridays
last friday brittany, myself, and the funny little people i work with all together produced a scarecrow from some baby clothes, a pointer, a paper bag, and timothy hay. it was great fun, but certainly more challenging than we expected. despite the fact that his body greatly enjoyed sliding apart and the hay likes to fall everywhere, in the end everything turned out perfect.
that afternoon i visited my friend kyle in his dorm apartment where i found rest for my exhausted self. we chatted on couches while drinking half-full glasses of refrigerated ginger ale, with no ice. i fell into the arms of slumber for a handful of moments, afterward returning to work for our harvest festival. i worked the cotton candy booth. the machine is intriguing. when it is full of sugar it reaches a definite peak when the floss is producing at such a rate you must do all you can to keep up with it. it gathers itself together and will fly right out of the machine if you do not catch it. as the amount of sugar lessens, so does the intense level of its production. all the while little feathery collections of cotton candy fly around and land on your hair and clothes, humoring us all together as we are able to see what the other looks like with bits of cloud in their hair, but only able to imagine what we ourselves look like.
today was another friday. the little people painted their pumpkins and were not very much into the playdough. they did an excellent job of practicing for our earthquake drill, though. i am glad they were able to understand duck and cover at their age.
i ended the day with reading aloud in the living room ten chapters of the adventures of poor mrs. quack, which is the story of a rabbit and a muskrat at the smiling pool eagerly listening to mrs. quack tell of her journey from the north to the south and back to the north again, all the while frightened nearly to death of the horrible two-legged creatures, called men, and their guns. i have trouble understanding how well it goes down as bedtime tales, as it it marketed.

today i love october
as i steered my car down the block to the light and turned the corner i found myself viewing daybreak. or perhaps i was the one breaking into day. it was meek, being powerful but not overpowering. the orange and yellow glowed behind the dark low wall of cloud. the innocence mission filled my car (self-titled, 1989). as i drove home i was so glad for the autumn day. in the afternoon the clouds all about above me looked as the scenery of a comfortable dream. oh i felt they could just sweep me right up into themselves and i would be completely content.

thoughts from my professional life
today was great. though it has been pretty crazy lately and behavior issues have consumed much of my concern at work, the happenings today made me smile, and stop to remember the joys i am graced with every week, that sometimes pass me by.
last week we made delicious lemonade! today we made playdough.
